The Port of Fremantle, currently fourth busiest in Australia, is at the forefront of adopting digitisation and technology solutions, with around 89% of its daily delivery orders from its shipping line partners being received electronically.

Containerchain, developer of cloud-based software solutions for optimizing the container shipping and landside container logistics industry, announced that Ports of Auckland, has signed a 10-year contract to implement its Terminal Solution, consisting of its Notifications vehicle booking system (VBS) and eGate / Driver products.

Containerchain has launched its VBS product Notifications at Port of Tauranga’s Sulphur Point seaport terminal in New Zealand. This is the first of several major projects with Port of Tauranga and Ports of Auckland via their joint venture data management entity, Port Connect.

Containerchain’s new Notifications product release will be launched on Thursday 1st of August 2019. To support new and existing users make the most of the new product, there has been a series of training videos and user guides developed.

The CMA CGM-owned Progeco network, covering nations such as Germany, France, the Netherlands and Belgium, began using Containerchain’s Depot Management System and Notifications products in 2018. Following an increase in efficiency since integrating the Containerchain platform, Progeco has decided to roll out the solution to all of its remaining depots in Europe.

Lines, a recipient of the Order of Australia for services to the maritime sector, brings with him insight and expertise honed over an almost-fifty-year career in shipping.

The company sees a strong appetite for digitisation solutions emerging in the region, especially in seaport and hinterland terminal automation, cargo movement visibility, and more efficient depot and yard management systems.

On a positive note, one of the notification system providers now offers drivers the ability to be automatically “pre validated” several kilometres from the ECP gate. The Containerchain “eGate” app allows trucks to be automatically processed without stopping and interacting with any ECP gate or kiosk. Importantly, this gives the transport operator a chance to rectify any problems in a timely manner and significantly improves turnaround times.
