November 9 2017 - Containerchain, creator of cloud-based software solutions for automating and synchronising operations across the container logistics industry, opened its Antwerp office this month off the back of strong momentum with its initial rollout in Hamburg to several early adopter customers of its Depot solution. It has recently secured the services of Eric Noterman, former CEO of Van Moer Logistics, as a strategic advisor to guide the company’s growth plans in the Benelux region.
Containerchain’s software mix offers vertical solutions that drive efficiency gains for everyone involved in moving containers - from BCO’s, shipping lines and terminals, to container depots, transporters, and warehouses - while connecting them horizontally via a common communications and business intelligence platform.
The company sees a strong appetite for digitisation solutions emerging in the region, especially in seaport and hinterland terminal automation, cargo movement visibility, and more efficient depot and yard management systems.
Chris Collins, Chief Operating Officer for Containerchain, commented: “We knew when we opened our European operations out of Hamburg earlier this year with a major global shipping line customer that this was a market innovating at a rapid rate. But the warmth of response to what we bring to the table has exceeded our expectations. As a result, we have brought forward the opening of our Antwerp office and getting close to being able to announce a new commercial manager for the territory soon. In the meantime, we’re very grateful to have the services of industry stalwart, Eric Noterman, as a guiding hand. I’m excited by the opportunities I see ahead of us in Germany and in the Benelux region.”
Patrick Mertens, Commercial General Manager for Europe, added: “The momentum we are seeing in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the Benelux is being driven in large part by the volatility in the industry that’s still working its way through the supply chain from large shipping lines, forwarders and shippers to smaller transport companies and inland container terminals and depots. Everyone sees that they must rethink their operations, redesign their processes, and find technology solutions that will help them work smarter, not harder. The fact that Containerchain has been delivering on that need for a decade in other parts of the world has made the transition to European markets that much quicker.”
Containerchain will be showcasing its platform and solution mix, including its new Business Intelligence tool, at Intermodal Europe, November 28-30 at the Amsterdam Rai. Demo and meeting requests can be made directly to patrick.mertens@containerchain.com.
